St. Anne's Convent Maddur

About half the way to Mysore from Bangalore is the town of Maddur. It is close to Chikka Arasinakere, the “Punyachetra of Fr. Rajendra”, where the Jesuit Superior of Mysore Mission. Fr. Antonio Maria Platai S J. lays buried. This town like Srirangapatna recalls to mind the apostolate of the old Jesuit Missionaries. Mr. Chode Gowda and his wife, natives of Maddur approached Mother Presentation and requested to run an English Medium school. As a result, Sr. Rose Virgine was asked to go over to that place and see to the suitability of the place for the project. As usual the work started in a rented building and it was blessed on 27th June 1981 by the then Bishop of Mysore Rt. Rev. Mathias Fernandez. The school started with 60 pupils. Sr. Rose Virgine who was both the superior and the Headmistress was successful in purchasing 21/2 acres of land for our purpose in 1983. The foundation for the school building was blessed by the Rt. Rev. Mathias Fernandez the bishop of Mysore on 24th Nov 1983. When the main building was ready, it was blessed and opened by the same bishop on 11th April 1985. From then on the classes were held in the new building.
A separate convent building and a boarding house were constructed and inaugurated by the then bishop of Mysore, Rt. Rev. Francis Michaelappa on 31st May 1988. Now it has grown not only into a full pledged High School but also has a PU College.
