St. Anne's Convent Semra

Semra: This is the second foundation in the diocese of Jhansi. Bishop Peter Parapullil the Bishop of Jhansi, was very happy with the services of our sisters at Lalithpur which was started on 11th July 2017 and he invited us to take up two more centers in His diocese which are closer to Lalithpur. Jhansi diocese is consisting of Mission stations and people come to know Christ through the services of the religious persons and congregations.

The request of the Bishop was discussed in our Provincial Council and after prayer, reflection and studying the situation, obtaining needed permission from Superior General, Provincial Superior Sr. Arulmary, Asst. Provincial Sr. Alphonse and the Provincial Procurator Sr. Lilly Peter visited our sisters at Lalithpur from 9th to 12th April and visited the proposed Mission Centre to see and study the feasibility of starting the new houses. Later the Bishop was informed about our positive decision and he was very happy to help us in every way to start the communities at Semra and Mehroni.

At Semra a new Convent building was constructed and furnished with all the facilities before the arrival of the sisters. The pioneers of this community are Sr. Catherine K.O., Superior and Srs. Mathew Maria and Mary Vanitha the members. The newly constructed convent was blessed by Bishop Peter Parapullil on 23rd June. After the blessing of the convent and chapel a Solemn Holy Eucharist was concelebrated by the Bishop and about 15 Priests of the diocese. Other Congregation sisters and the Priests from the neighboring places were present for the inaugural function and made it a grand celebration.

Our Sisters are involved in the Education Apostolate. The Diocese has begun a school starting from Nursery to Standard one during this academic year. People are very happy with the services of our sisters in this place. May they impart the Love of God through their service and thus the people come to know Christ in this mission area.
